How the ladder works

The Growth Ladder is the path each person walks in your church: from arriving as a disciple to walking alongside others or reaching the pastorate. Each rung is a stage, and every member is always on one.

Rungs and tree

The ladder does two things at once:

• It says what stage each person is at. Inperia starts with three rungs (Pastor, Leader and Disciple), and your church can rename them and add the ones it uses.
• It orders the leadership tree. Each member has a direct leader, and that builds a tree: the pastor at the top, their leaders below and, under each leader, the people they walk alongside. Only rungs marked May lead others can have people in their care.

A person without a leader stays Unassigned until you place them in the tree, except on the top rung, where they head their own branch. People who are imported or added without a leader start out that way.

A rung is not the same as a role

The rung says where the person is in their growth; the role says what they can do in the app. Add your team explains the difference.

The tree view

In Members, the Tree view draws your church’s leadership tree, or the part of it your role reaches.

• Each person shows their rung with a color and a shape around their photo.
• Collapse branch and Expand branch fold or unfold the people in someone’s care; the number tells you how many there are.
• From each person’s menu you can Focus this branch, Change leader or promote them.
• If your role allows it, you can change a person’s leader: drag from the connection point on their card to the new leader, or use Change leader in their menu. On a phone, tap one point and then the other. Inperia asks whether the person moves alone or with the people in their care. Dragging the card itself doesn’t change the leader: it only moves the card around in the drawing.
• Re-arrange the tree undoes the positions you saved by dragging and lays out the tree automatically again.
• Download image saves the tree as an image. On the Starter Plan it carries the Inperia mark; paid plans download it without the mark.

On a phone, you get around the tree view with the usual gestures: drag to move around and pinch to zoom in or out.

My ministry

On the Dashboard, the My ministry block sums up your place on the ladder: your rung, your leader, how many people you lead directly and how many there are in your whole branch.
