Tags and custom fields

Tags group people (youth, baptized, worship team) so you can filter them, call them together or segment a meeting. Custom fields add to the records the details your church needs and that Inperia doesn’t include.

Your church has a single tag catalog, shared by members and contacts. It starts with six: Children, Teenagers, Youth, Adults, Seniors and Baptized.

The Tags screen with the church's catalog, the color of each tag and how many members and contacts carry it
  1. In Settings › Tags, select New tag.

  2. Enter the Name, choose a Color and, if you like, add a Description.

  3. Save.

No two tags can have the same name, even with different capitalization. Whoever has the Manage tags permission can also create a new tag from a person’s form, without going to Settings.

Tags are assigned from each person’s record, and to several members at once from the member list’s action bar. Inperia never assigns tags on its own.

  • Archive removes the tag from the forms without taking it away from the people who carry it. It shows under Archived and can be brought back with Restore.
  • Delete is only possible if nobody carries the tag, not even an archived person, and no role uses it to take attendance.

Each field belongs to Members or to Contacts, and appears in the Custom fields section of their records.

The Custom fields screen with the Members and Contacts tabs and the church's fields with their type
  1. In Settings › Custom fields, choose the Members or Contacts tab and select New field.

  2. Enter the Name and choose the Type: Text, Number, Date, Select, Multi-select or Yes/No.

  3. For Select and Multi-select, add the Options.

  4. Tick Required if the detail can’t be left empty, and save.

If you mark a field as required, existing records will have to fill it in the next time they’re edited.

A field that’s in use can’t be deleted, and an option someone has chosen can’t be removed. To manage fields, you need the Manage custom fields permission.
